For Design Director Jared Tipps, architecture has never been just about buildings—it’s about translating vision into tangible form. From his earliest days working alongside his father to leading DOT STUDIO, Heights Venture’s high-design creative arm, Jared’s path has been defined by curiosity, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of balance between art and practicality.

When Jared joined Heights Venture, he quickly recognized an opportunity. The firm had long been known for its client-focused, budget-minded commercial architecture—a reputation built over more than four decades. But he saw the potential for something more: a dedicated space where design exploration, conceptual thinking, and storytelling through architecture could thrive.
That vision became DOT STUDIO, a collaborative hub within Heights Venture that pushes the boundaries of design. “I wanted to create a studio that lived at the intersection of creativity and reality,” Jared explains. “Many designers can imagine beautiful concepts—but bridging those ideas into real, buildable projects that meet client needs is where the magic happens.”
Under Jared’s leadership, DOT STUDIO has become exactly that. The studio’s work spans high-concept visualization, material exploration, and innovative design solutions for projects across the country. From franchised restaurants to luxury apartments and mixed-use developments, the team blends artistic energy with technological know-how, using cutting-edge rendering tools and a collaborative design process to bring clarity to complex ideas.
In just two years, DOT STUDIO has grown from a concept into a cornerstone of Heights Venture’s design identity. Jared, along with DOT STUDIO’s Principal Blake Sloan, has handpicked a team of young designers and interns, fostering an environment built on mentorship and growth. “Watching them develop into well-rounded professionals has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career,” he says. “I want them to be challenged, to ask questions, and to see that great design is both creative and strategic.”

But leadership for Jared extends far beyond the studio walls. He has volunteered with the Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals (ACRP), participating in the group’s first, Bayou City Brawl—a charity boxing event that raised scholarship funds for students pursuing degrees in real estate and development. He has also donated his time to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, supporting the Corral Club team. For Jared, these community roles aren’t separate from his professional identity—they reflect the same values of dedication, teamwork, and service that define his approach to architecture.
Jared’s career path hasn’t followed the industry’s traditional trajectory. Though raised in an architectural family, he initially set out to study aerospace engineering before realizing his creative passion lay closer to the ground. Without a formal architecture degree, he learned through doing—first co-founding a local firm, Tipps Architecture, where he handled client relations, design, and construction oversight. That hands-on experience shaped his holistic understanding of how a project moves from concept to completion.
Looking ahead, Jared’s goals are ambitious but clear. He envisions expanding DOT STUDIO’s influence firmwide—enhancing every Heights Venture project with elevated design thinking and integrated creative services like interior design, mural design, and furniture and lighting design. Ultimately, he hopes to guide the firm toward even greater recognition for innovative, high-quality, and client-centered architecture.
Balancing that vision with his personal life is Jared’s current challenge and greatest joy. Recently becoming a father has reshaped his perspective on time, priorities, and legacy. “Being present for my son while continuing to lead and grow professionally is something I’m still learning,” he admits. “But it’s also made me a better designer. It reminds me daily what it means to create spaces that truly serve people and their lives.”
For Jared Tipps, the future of architecture isn’t just about form and function—it’s about connection. Through his leadership at DOT STUDIO, mentorship of emerging designers, and dedication to his community and family, he’s building more than projects. He’s shaping a culture of creativity, care, and collaboration that continues to redefine what high-concept architecture and design means at Heights Venture.
