That was the opportunity, behind the Heights Med remodel, a transformative repositioning project in the heart of the Heights neighborhood in Houston.

In fast-growing markets like Webster, Texas, successful retail developments don’t just fill space—they create momentum. The Shops at Baybrook, a 24,000-square-foot, single-story retail center set on 4.8 acres, is a clear example of how thoughtful design and strategic collaboration can transform an underdeveloped site into a community catalyst. Now nominated for the Houston Business Journal’s 2026 Landmark Award, the project tells a story that extends far beyond its footprint.

Through this project, Heights Venture helped Brookshire Brothers turn a vision into reality: one where grocery stores can also be gathering spaces, cultural landmarks, and engines for local connection. By honoring the past, serving the present, and planning for the future, the Brookshire Brothers College Station store is a testament to the power of thoughtful, intentional design.

Our initial design concept drew from the vernacular architecture of 19th-century wood barns common in Central Texas. These structures, historically rooted in community and simplicity, aligned perfectly with Western Academy’s mission of cultivating connection among students, nature, and the wider community.
